SAUL IU 2011 (School of Architecture University of Limerick Intelligence Unit) recently completed research entitled OA-political Island; Ireland¹s Living Space¹, a project that aims to adjust the way people imagine and visualize the physical form of society created by those who live on it through defining the living space of the island. Ireland is a compact island. Island Life, and the Living Space we've created on it is a basic conditioning aspect of this society. The kind of living space we have created of the island is unique; we know very little about it, this island and what exactly we have done to it.

Description: Students involved in the Art in the Public Realm course at University of Limerick taught by Mikael Fernström have designed ‘steampunk’ style craft objects using disused technology (eg broken computers, keyboards, etc) with an object from the Hunt collection as inspiration. Each student ‘adopted’ an object in the collection and re-interpreted the object through a novel design using this ‘computer graveyard’ material. These craft objects produced by the students will be exhibited in the cases beside (or close to) the objects on which they are based.
